What You'll Be Doing
Help grow fresh, organic produce in one of Spur's Community Roots Gardens to provide over 2,000 pounds of fruits and veggies to local food pantries and other programs fighting food insecurity each year. Lend a hand (or a green thumb) at a flexible volunteer shift that works for your schedule: weed, water, harvest, or deliver delicious fresh produce to organizations fighting food insecurity. No need to bring anything; we'll provide all the supplies you need to grow some good.
Commitment and details
Why It Matters
You're providing neighbors facing food insecurity with something truly life-giving: nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables that nourish their bodies and help prevent serious illnesses like diabetes and heart disease. By ensuring they receive the same high-quality food that others can afford, you're sending a powerful message: that every person in your community has inherent worth and deserves to be cared for with dignity and respect.

Ways to Help
Garden sites
Garden shifts run across three sites: St. Andrew's (Marblehead), Shirat Hayam (Swampscott), and Village School (Marblehead). The Village School garden grows fresh fruits and veggies for the Marblehead Food Pantry. Specific site and task (maintain beds, or harvest/weigh/record/bag produce for delivery) are chosen at the shift level.
