About Spur

About

We serve our community. And in doing so, we build one.

Who We Are

Spur is a nonprofit built on a simple belief: when neighbors help neighbors, everyone thrives. We’re the bridge between people who want to make a difference and community members who need support. We make caring for each other easy, meaningful, and joyful.

Our Mission

Spur engages, inspires, and connects individuals of all ages with meaningful volunteer opportunities that meet tangible needs of the community in collaboration with local partners.

Our Vision

An inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to make a transformative impact on themselves and the people around them.

How We Do It

Meeting Immediate Needs

Through targeted drives and independent initiatives, Spur meets otherwise unmet tangible needs and provides direct material support when neighbors need it most.

Strengthening Local Partners

We recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers who work alongside shelters, food pantries, and service organizations, lifting the coordination burden so they can focus on direct care.

Creating Accessible Service

We make volunteering easy and flexible for everyone, regardless of age, schedule, or experience. No long-term commitment required.

Why Spur

Spur is a verb. It means encouragement and forward motion. We spur people to action. We spur community connection. We spur change through accessible, meaningful service that makes a real, tangible difference. Together, we are a catalyst for good.

What We Believe

Everyone Belongs

All ages, backgrounds, and abilities have a place at Spur. We design opportunities that welcome everyone.

Dignity First

We let our community guide our work, listening closely to the needs they identify and responding with compassion, purpose, and accountability.

Small Acts, Real Impact

Two hours of help, multiplied across a community, changes lives. Every shift matters.

Our Team

A small staff and a big community make Spur run.
