Our Story
In the summer of 2014, our founder, Jocelyn Cook was listening to a speaker who challenged the audience: “Are you, are we, investing our energy, our experience, and our passions in pursuit of the right purpose?”

He went on to say: “Maybe you are a parent and are seeing your children grow up impossibly fast before your very eyes… In these moments, maybe you wonder: Am I doing all I can for them? Are they learning what actually matters? Am I teaching and equipping them, or am I functionally more interested in getting them into Harvard? What building materials am I giving my child to use in the construction of their character?"
At that moment it was clear, she wanted to create an organization where young children, families, and individuals could dive into giving back through opportunities that embraced busy schedules, varying experiences, and interest levels.

She saw a need for an organization that could inspire people to SPUR one another on toward love and good deeds; where community members, especially young families, could participate in meaningful experiences aimed at building stronger communities. One where strangers act like neighbors, and where young people could participate in unique extracurricular activities aimed at inspiring and mobilizing youth to take action for future years and change the world.

An organization that embraces the notion that we don’t have to change the world on our own, we simply need to do our little bit of good to make a difference.

As a result, an organization was born with a mission to SPUR youth and adults on toward good deeds that build stronger communities through hands-on community service and enrichment programs.

We hope you will be inspired to join us, to volunteer, connect, learn, and SPUR good deeds.
